depend/dɪ'pend/ v.依靠；取决于

depend是不及物动词，后面通常接介词on或upon。

eg：You can’t depend on your parents forever .

你不能永远依靠你的父母。

depend on的用法：

后接名词或代词

We shouldn’t depend on foreign countries for oil .

我们不应当依赖外国石油。

“depend on/ upon sb . to do sth . ”

意思是“指望某人做某事”。
