考点1   the number of……的数量

【妙辨异同】　the number of与a number of的辨析

(1)the number of是固定短语, 意为“……的数量”, 后接可数名词复数, 但中心词是number, 所以谓语动词要用单数。

(2)a number of为量词短语, 意为“许多; 大量”, 相当于a lot of或lots of, 中心词是该短语所修饰的可数名词复数, 所以作主语时, 谓语动词用复数形式。
